Prayer Guide: A New Lion Rising

As the events have unfolded at Penn State, we believe God is saying important things.

God is speaking into this situation, and the best we can do is embrace His move. The lion has fallen, and we are in free fall. But if we heed God’s words, a New Lion will arise in Lion Country. With scriptures and prayer points, this guide will help you pray what we believe God is saying.

“My eyes are on the brokenhearted.”

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34.18)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11.28)
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we be called children of God! (1 John 3.1)
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3.17)

Repentance of the idols in our lives
Restoration of the worship of God
Passion for Jesus to fill the land

“Turn your sex lives over to Me.”

The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the LORD. (1 Corinthians 6.13)
So if you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10.31)
You shall not commit adultery. (Exodus 20.14)

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Matthew 7.3)
In the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7.2)
Why do you look down on your brother? We will all stand before God’s judgment seat. (Rom. 14.10)

Thank you for praying that a New Lion arises in Lion Country.

Jesus will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain (Revelation 21.4). He has purchased for God people from every tribe and language and people and nation. And we will sing a new song (Revelation 5.9). For salvation and glory and power belong to our God (Revelation 19.1), the New Lion of Lion Country.

  1. That’s what I mean that we have to go back to God. When God put down the nation, who can be able to rise it back? Return to God. When are in prayer for your state.

  2. Just wanted to let you know how powerful your messages have been that you have written regarding this devastating situation with Penn State. Your words are touching many and opening eyes in ways that are simply wonderful. I am sorry to hear that you have been persecuted during this time; however, I pray that your words, ultimately from God, touch them as well. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. God is mighty to save and does redeem so it will be exciting to see what God has in store!
It is so sad to see our little hometown being hit like this and seeing people who we once looked up too now being shone in a different light. Put I am thankful for your role and how you are rising above to speak the truth…thank you, Chris, thank you!

  3. Such a great idea.  Way to turn a tragedy into an opportunity to awake all of us from out of our slumber.  May God bring about a reformation/awakening through your efforts at Penn State.  This is how we should all respond to tough opportunities.

    Thank you,
